Competent Person

The Renewable Energy client is looking for a Competent Person (34 kV or higher) to work in the NW UK on an offshore wind farm project. This role starts ASAP until December 2014 (initially).

Working Pattern:
Working hours are dependent on work-load and this requirement would suit someone with a flexible approach. It is envisioned that the working rota will typically be 12 hours a day/7 days, 2 weeks on duty followed by a 2 weeks off duty period, but intermittently.

Job Description:

Be conversant with the client's electrical safety rules
Supervise work under the client's safety rules under direction from a SAP
Receive safety documents
Inspect work sites
Check Safety Documents
Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties
Assist the O&M department when required
Tasks include working both offshore and onshore.

Please note: the consultant will have to pass an appropriate CP authorisation training course prior to being confirmed in the role.

Qualification & Experience:

NGET Competent Person
Basic offshore requirements, including:
First Aid
Offshore medical
Working at height with rescue
PST, personal survival techniques
Electrical Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC)
Technical knowledge of 400KV substations.
Extensive working experience as a Competent Person operating under company HV Safety Rules.
Electrical engineering working experience in a NGET substation.
Substation SCADA/SCS systems experience
Previously CP authorised with a Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

Other actions:

The client will not cover the costs for industry essential training as this is deemed part of the competent for the proposed individuals to fill the roles.
The Consultant must bring his/her own mobile telephone. The client will provide access to their systems via computer access.
Consultant must bring own PPE for working offshore. The client will provide office facilities available to the Consultant including office space.
