Experienced Engineer required to fill a Competency Surveyor role for a world leading Defence and Aerospace Company based out of Boscombe Down for an initial 6 month contract. This is a full time role and the suitable candidates must be prepared to travel UK wide. Candidates must have experience with either Aeronautics, Military Equipment, Explosives, Electronic and/or Mechanical principles and equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible to the Weapons Division Head of SQEP and Professional Development for:

. Arranging survey campaigns, in specific target areas of the Division, according to the priorities given by Head of Division

. Documenting engineering governance/assurance structures for each target area, in turn, across the Division

. Constructing a role competency table for each of the roles identified in each of the structure diagrams

. Working co-operatively with engineering managers to document the 'Traffic Light Status' of each bullet in each of the role competency tables

. Developing a plan to address any systemic needs identified by the Traffic Light Status

. Recording action notes for all non-systemic needs identified by the Traffic Light Status

. Drafting monthly summary progress reports

Knowledge required for role:

. A Good general knowledge of the scope and extent of engineering in Weapons.

. A Good general knowledge of the geography and the range of environments within which Weapons staff work.

. Has good general level of awareness of engineering principles and practice in the following domains: Electronics (including instrumentation and signals), Mechanics (including structures), Explosives and Aeronautics.

. Awareness of the scope of technical education and training that is either emergent, or currently being undertaken, by Weapons staff.

Skills required for role

. Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, in both spoken and written forms.

. Can communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels, including in situations where firmness of purpose needs to be combined with diplomacy.

. Working effectively and efficiently with Microsoft Office tools, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Viso and PowerPoint

. Ability to think logically and analytically

. Ability to manage own time effectively, and to keep to a schedule of interaction with other stakeholders.

*All candidates must have valid SC clearance or have held it within the last 12 months*
