COMMUNICATIONS PROJECT MANAGER

DURATION:  4-month contract (W2)

CLIENT:  One of the country's largest health care and health plan providers

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Develop and implement communications plans and tactics to fulfil the strategic and operational goals and objectives of the program developed by the communications practice leader for his/her clients to deliver, promote and protect the organization's brand and reputation.

DESCRIPTION:

The work in this contract role will be focused on three key projects:

ClaimsConnect program (currently underway): Works with a cross-functional team to support change management and communications activities needed to continue the implementation of the new company-wide claims systems in the Northwest. Supports ongoing communications and develops communications strategy and tactics in partnership with local and national ClaimsConnect team.

- Key qualifications: Strategic communications consulting, business/operational acumen, project management, change management fundamentals, executive voice strategy/development.

Pharmacy upgrade project and mail-order pharmacy campaign (currently underway): Partners with pharmacy leaders to support change management and communications activities needed to continue the implementation of the new pharmacy system in the Northwest region. Also supports ongoing mail-order pharmacy member marketing campaign.

- Key qualifications: Strategic communications consulting, project management, change management fundamentals, marketing copywriting/design and campaign production/management.

Virtual health pilot program (Beginning Aug. 1st): Works with a cross-functional team - company mental health and IT staff, outside vendor and marketing agency - to support communications activities needed to pilot a new virtual health solution.

- Partners with vendor marketing agency to develop strategic marketing plan and member marketing campaign.
- Develops metrics for measuring campaign effectiveness.
- Partners with internal team members to develop internal communications plan, supporting project team and creating regional visibility for pilot.
- Key qualifications: Strategic communications consulting, project management, vendor management, marketing copywriting/design and campaign production/management.
- Provides communications consulting to internal clients on internal and external communications programs, projects and tactics. Consulting activity will vary from verbal communications or advice on communications issues to providing written customized communications plans.
- Strategizes with client, writes creative briefs, researches and analyzes information, prepares presentations (PowerPoint presentations, speeches and talking points), plans logistics, and manages overall coordination.
- Ensures content is consistent with the Kaiser Permanente brand in terms of tone, manner, and messaging.
- Manage and complete multiple assignments in short time frames and coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic program for a single client or for a program.
- Acquires the input and resources of other communications staff in the organization to fulfil the objectives of communication plans and projects on behalf of communications practice leaders' clients.
- Coordinates the deliverables of other communicators in the organization to ensure that special projects are in compliance with negotiated timelines/financial allocations.
- Implements measures to determine effectiveness of communications programs and create plans to improve results.

REQUIRED SKILLS (MUST HAVE; LIST ON RESUME):

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
- 4 or more years of experience working in a complex corporate communications environment with demonstrated excellence in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic communications programs
- Change management and project management experience required
- Strategic communications consulting experience required
- Demonstrated strong change management skills required
- Demonstrated strong project and time management skills required
- Ability to coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic communications program
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with executives who lead a complex organization to support executive voice strategy and development
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a corporate communications department on a team with professional communicators

PREFERRED SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE; LIST ON RESUME):

- Healthcare communications experience
- Marketing copywriting/design and campaign production/management experience
