Communications Manager-NHS, Life Science, Birth Research, Patient & Public Partnership/Patient Participation

Communications Manager, ideally with experience of delivering senior communications assignments within a Higher Education institution, funding agency, NHS or Life Science environment, preferably with a focus on Patient & Public Partnership (PPI)/Patient Participation work streams is urgently needed to work on a on a large scale, ground breaking birth research programme.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for managing the communications and PR strategy for the Birth Study, including developing and implementing a Life Study communications strategy designed to promote the Life Study assisting recruitment strategies and protecting and enhancing its reputation. In addition, the Communications Manager will enable key stakeholders to contribute to the development of the Life Study, and provide a firm foundation for ensuring effective and positive public and media engagement and overall awareness of the Life Study.

+Comprehensive experience of delivering senior communications assignments, ideally within a higher Education institution, Funding Agency, NHS, life Science or Medical Research environment.
+Experience of working on projects with large, Patient & Public Partnership/Patient Participation work streams.
+Extensive background in medical, scientific or health communications and PR.
+Experience of working directly with both national and local media agencies.
+Experience of managing communications strategies with surrounding complex and potentially controversial issues regarding participation in research and or ethical issues.
+Experience of working with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve engagement and results. +The ability to quickly understand complex medical and scientific concepts with the ability to then explain and present them to a non specialist audience.

+A degree or post graduation within a life science or health related discipline.
