ROLE: COMMUNICATIONS/IT ENGINEER
RATE: €330 - €380 per day
LOCATION: Mons, Belgium - onsite at SHAPE
CONTRACT LENGTH: Until 31st December 2017
CLEARANCE REQUIRED: SC Clearance/NATO Secret
THE ROLE:
* Use and maintain the NATO Network Control System in order to perform circuit configuration investigations, process activation, modification and cessation of services.
* Issue network/circuit service orders and other instructions to service providing elements.
* Make necessary coordination to ensure technical compatibility and feasibility before activation of network services.
* Check/validate activation, modification or cessation statuses of network service requests.
* Update the Network Service Configuration Management database
* Inform the Control and Management Centre about changes in networks and systems.
* Coach technically and train the Network Service Fulfilment staffs.
* Maintain the Circuit Management Guidelines to codification needed for circuit records and network service requests,
* Participate in project meetings.
* Create, maintain and update network diagrams and Network Service Requests.
* Check, validate data on Network Service Requests and coordinate with requesting and implementing communities.
* Contribute to exercise, operations and static service delivery activities.
* Manage common service mail box and share point portal.
* Create, process and follow up incident tickets.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* Experience in Service Configuration Management. Demonstrable systematic management of information related to the documentation, software, hardware and firmware assets of an organization. This involves identification and appropriate specification of all configuration items (CIs). Required information will relate to storage, access, problem reporting and change control of CIs.
* A diploma from a vocational school in a communications related subject or an equivalent of work experience in the field of network communications.
* Knowledge of network routing and switching technologies and network communication protocols
* Industry routing and switching certification from CISCO.
* Over 4 years' experience in configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission and switching systems in support of data, voice and video transfer.
* Basic knowledge of database management
* Solid experience in Visio diagrams.
* Basic experience in word processing, spreadsheets.
* Experience in Network Service Configuration Management, Change Management and Incident Management processes.
* Broad knowledge and experience on diverse types of modern network communications and information systems to understand and capture the users' Network Service needs.
* Good knowledge of recent technological developments in network communication management systems and LAN/WAN environment
* Experience of preparing technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
