Commercial/Contracts Manager - £450-480 p/d Ltd - 6 months - Bristol - Defence

The role will be within the commercial team supporting Maritime Platform Systems, reporting to a B2 and working with various grades across all functions eg project and finance.
Assessing the existing commercial landscape and looking at the impact on programme delivery; Implementing approaches which ensure effective delivery of the right outcome for the department.

The primary focus for the function and individuals within it is delivery of commercial services to our customers. These comprise commercial support throughout the life of projects and programmes from initial procurement strategy development through to project/programme closure

The Ships Commercial team is a busy/dynamic environment with procurement activity that cover the full spectrum of Defence acquisition from contracting to commissioning state of the art research and development and multi million pound contracts. These requirements are delivered through a variety of commercial models ranging from simple low value competitive contracts to bespoke highly complex single source contracts.

Key responsibilities:
* Working to deliver commercial aspects of acquisition programme objectives
* Providing advice on commercial issues, ensuring compliance with procurement legislation and MOD commercial policy.
* Working closely with Project colleagues to achieve customer requirements
* Support the team in the approvals and scrutiny process and drafting of the Business Case.
* Managing a range of stakeholders in the commercial process within the MOD, Other Government Departments and Industry.
* Contributing to programme planning, procurement Strategies and developing contracting strategies
* Provide commercial assurance and briefing material to senior management. Lead and prepare pre-procurement engagement; develop the assessment phase and the ITT supporting documents.
* Evaluating tenders
* Contract placement
* Manage transition of new contractual arrangements to designated contract manager(s).
* Contract management and amendments
* Providing Commercial advice and guidance
* Ensuring all Procurement activities represent best value for money
* Ensuring all activity undertaken is in line with HMG procurement policy, applicable regulations and best practice.
* Driving improvement
* Supporting commercial assurance process
* Improving commercial capability

Essential Experience:- Contract Initiation
Strategic thinking - developing commercial strategies & programmes, Contracting - implementing commercial strategies - develop route to contract - develop terms and conditions.

Contract Management experience - supplier performance assessment pro-actively monitor, control and manage
