Commercial (Contracts) Manager

We have an excellent opportunity available for a skilled Commercial (Contracts) Manager to work with a large multinational Defence based organisation.

Job Description.

The Contracts Manager is responsible for the management of all contracts within the sector over the contract life cycle from bidding to negotiation, contract award and contract closure. Most specifically to deliver the aims and objectives set for the function by the applicable sector head and the Director for Contracts. The Contracts Manager shall be responsible for establishing and organisation with the necessary skills and competencies to provide commercial support to meet these objectives.

Key Tasks

*Develop the function ensuring that adequate skills and resources are maintained
*Work in conjunction with the Director Contracts to meet the objectives set
*Manage all contractual aspects with due regard to
oCompliance
oGovernance
oGroup-wide actions
oAgreements (cooperation and strategic)
oContracts (government procurement)
*Manage Contracts for the sector from the bid preparation phase through to contract completion with a particular focus on identifying and managing risks and opportunities
*Serve as a focal point of contact for customers and partners regarding contractual matters by establishing good customer relationships and communications with the emphasis on achieving high SRT (or equivalent) scores
*Ensure a robust contractual baseline is established and maintained including the active management of contractual change and contract amendments
*Provide guidance on compliance with terms and conditions identifying flow down terms and risk by supporting the negotiation of major subcontracts
*Identify potential liabilities and disputes and support the development of appropriate mitigation plans
*Ensure maintenance of appropriate contractual records and files as well provide regular reports as required

*Working knowledge of UK Defence Contracting
*Experience of Export contracting
*Capacity to draft complex contracts and agreements
*Proven negotiation skills
*Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Staff management
*Capacity to operate at all levels within the organisation
*Work on own initiative under pressure and meet tight deadlines
*Ability to develop innovative commercial solutions with sound strategic vision
*Proven track record of working in a dynamic commercial environment

Qualifications

Educated to degree level with minimum 10 years experience in a defence related commercial function
