Commercial Analyst

My Client is a major Government body looking for a professional Commercial Analyst. This is a very commercial role and the ideal candidate will have strong accountancy skills who can demonstrate sound commercial awareness.

The holder will be required:
- To undertake a detailed analysis of the segment of the education industry and market that specialises in delivering training in/for the motor industry.
- Critical evaluation of business's that make up this segment of the industry will inform the economic and commercial appraisal aspects of the business case, recommendations, challenges and determine appetite, capability, capacity (pricing structures and models).
- Development of technical models to accurately reflect and predict market conditions and opportunities that will further grow and develop the options being considered.

Key Roles and responsibilities

- Provide expert support and guidance on commercial matters to the Client's Subject Matter Expert (SME), developing the OBC, helping to resolve any issues as they arise;
- With the Client's SME, plan and manage work/milestones to ensure targets are met. Provide reports on progress and escalate issues with proposals for corrective action to PM;
- In conjunction with the SME develop the identified alternative delivery models for training including an initial economic and commercial appraisal for each option, indicative costs, high level implementation plans, timelines, risks, issues, impact on industry, staff and dependencies for each;
- Test each proposition more robustly, with potential providers via market soundings, and a range of internal and external stakeholders, to further inform development of an outline business case;

Experience:

- Public sector experience
- A good track record of identifying areas of risk and reward without direction.
- Knowledge of government procurement rules
- Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills are also essential in this role
- Able to demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of key aspects of the vocational education industry.
