Commercial Analyst

The client is a Renewable Energy organisation with International offshore wind projects; they are currently looking for a Commercial Analyst for their Offshore Wind department. This will be a 2 year contract, with possibilities to extend, to start in January 2014. The project is progressing the consenting process, and the project team is rapidly progressing engineering work and preparing for construction.

Responsibilities

Financial Data Collection and Analysis:
Devising systems for financial budget reporting and forecasting, in compliance with client's requirements.
Collection of contract and invoice records, and purchase order sanction amounts, from SAP.
Liaison with team members, to collect data on expected future costs, variations, contracts, claims and Value of Work Done'.
Monitoring of Foreign Exchange exposure and management of cost risks and hedging arising from Foreign Exchange payments.
Liaison with Project Risk Manager, to determine project cost and delay risks.
Analysis of financial project risk, and independently judge where to reflect the risk in cost reporting.
Developing cashflow projections, and interpreting their impact on the project.
Calculation of Project staff costs, based on schedule data from Project Programmer.
Tracking and analysis of landowner payments. Ensuring compliance with land owner agreements via third parties; and negotiating and resolving problems.
Reconciliation of SAP data on actual' payments, with project team records of invoices paid.
Independent report generation as required by package managers.
Recommending and implementing improvements to the cost control process, the basis for project cost calculations and the acceptance of settlements on insurance claims.
Liaise with Central team to ensure that standards are incorporated.

Financial Reporting:
The break-down of estimated cost to completion (by package area as required) and risk and contingency allowances (as required by Globe and Steering Committee reports).
Project cashflow forecasts.
Value of Work Done
Reporting to the Project Programmer of latest contract values and predicted payment profiles.
Responsibility for providing financial budget reporting and forecasting data to the project and Commercial Managers.

Key Skill Requirements

Tertiary educational qualifications in a related accounting or commercial discipline.
Demonstrable experience in managing project systems.
Expertise in the use of SAP.
Understanding of claim settlement & risk in the offshore sector.
Highly motivated.
Experienced in the collection, analysis, controlling and reporting of financial data.
Excellent IT skills, specifically excel, and presentation skills.
Confident in engaging with senior managers and in managing large budgets.
Strong team player.
Clean Driving Licence & need for occasional travel within the UK and Europe
