Purpose of Role

Proactively manage a portfolio of small-to-medium brokers, ensuring the timely negotiation, collection and settlement of commercial premiums. Ensuring accurate account reconciliations are completed and queries are resolved in an efficient manner. To diligently investigate unpaid premiums with the overriding aim to reduce debt and the risk of possible bad debt exposure to the business. To perform the banking and allocation of broker payments onto the commercial accounting systems.

Key Accountabilities

- Reduction in debt in accordance with departmental and individual objectives by implementing excellent methods of credit control. Ensuring timely and accurate account reconciliation across own portfolio of brokers, keeping unreconciled cash to a minimum.
- Perform the daily banking of cheques and BACS receipts onto the commercial operating systems, ensuring key controls of cash allocation are followed and adhered to.
- Provide excellent service to varied internal stakeholders within agreed service level agreements (SLAs) where applicable.
- Provide excellent service to brokers to ensure NIG are seen as the most admired partner with which to do business.
- Identify cost reductions and/or process efficiencies as a result of continuous improvement initiatives (such as Lean). Providing assistance in ad-hoc projects and any associated activities when necessary.
- Develop self through further study/learning/coaching/feedback in order to maximise personal contribution to the job.
- Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to my role, in line with the company risk framework; including awareness and compliance with the rules and requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and any other legal/regulatory guidelines.
