Cobol Programmer (with REXX Programming)

We have an urgent requirement for the position of "COBOL PROGRAMMER" IN BLOOMINGTON, IL

JOB TITLE: COBOL PROGRAMMER( WITH REXX EXP)

LOCATION: BLOOMINGTON, IL

DURATION: 1 YEAR + (LONG TERM)

The team has been conducting a detailed review of one of its flagship tools, which is written in the REXX programming language utilizing ISPF services. This tool allows developers to compile and link programs written in PL/I, Cobol and Assembler languages for deployment on the company's Mainframe systems.

TOP THREE SKILLS:

1. 5+ years of Cobol Programming experience.
2. Experience supporting PL/1, Assembler or JCL.
3. Experience with debugging tools such as RDz or Fault Analyzer, REXX Programming

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a consultant to assist the C00539 (Software Development Tools (Mainframe) component in providing support for source code development languages and related tools in the z/OS (Mainframe) environment. This support includes handling requests, incidents and problems using established Systems procedures (Service Management). The specific assignment for this analyst will be based upon their specific knowledge and skills.

The specific skills needed are:

- Proficiency in the use of TSO and ISPF
- Proficiency in the use or support of one or more programming languages such as PL/I, Cobol, Assembler or JCL
- Proficiency in the use or support of debugging tools such as RDz or Fault Analyzer would be a bonus Knowledge of PC product installation and maintenance, directory structure, navigation
- Knowledge of Mainframe database and transaction technologies such as DB2, IMS/DB and IMS/DC
- Ability to locate and use technical material from vendors, Client Intranet or the web
- Ability to understand and solve developer questions and problems
- Ability to install IBM products using SMPE
- Ability to install or maintain products and tools
- Ability to update product and tool documentation and publish, as necessary, technical articles using Client communications
- Assist the component in vendor relations, including budget planning and negotiation

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must have very good communication skills as this a support position. This position is 20% programming and 80% support.
