My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Clutch and Manual Transmission Design Engineer to join their Power/Train division on a long-term contract basis.

Position Description:
Clutch and Manual Transmission Design Engineer for Transmission and Driveline Systems.
During the delivery phases of the program life cycle the successful candidate will be required to support:
- Introduction of designs, applications and manufacturing in conjunction with suppliers
- Responsibility for the supply of components and assemblies meeting Process and Gateways
- Communication of issues to management including 8D Reports, FMEA, AIMS, eFDVS, RMDV, Risks, etc.
- Communication with external departments to ensure robust delivery of components and assemblies as requested
- Ownership of issues including resolution planning within the manual transmission system ownership
- Working with the Lead Engineer to deliver programmes on time and to a high quality

Skills Required:
Good level of MS Office skills essential.
Good communication and presentation skills at all levels within the business.
Good understanding of engineering and problem solving principles.
Self starter. Will be responsible for moving Programmes forward with minimal guidance. Understanding of major units within automotive driveline system.
Understanding of Program Delivery principles.
Knowledge of Transmission Development including Gearboxes and Clutches.

Skills Preferred:
Experience of specific programme delivery tools such as GPDS, AIMS, eFDVS would be a real advantage.

Experience Required:
Must have experience of working in a Design function, writing of test standards, control of test plans and planning, liaising with test and validation to determine DVP's and ensure testing is controlled and timed to meet programme deliverables.

Experience Preferred:
Previous working experience in a Transmission and Driveline Engineering department would be a real advantage.

Education Required:
Degree educated ideally with an Engineer Degree (or equivalent) or Chartered Engineer with a suitable Institute, educated with at least one subject in Applied Mathematics, Engineering or Programme Management. Vast experienc based on years worked in lieu of a degree could also be taken as acceptable eg craft/technician course engineers in Transmissions Design/Development.

Education Preferred:
Degree level education in Engineering preferred but time served Transmissions will also be taken into consideration

Additional Information:
Based at Gaydon site but will be required to work at Whitley site for some of the contract period.
