Clinical Nurse Specialist - Youth Offending Service

Our client has a job vacancy for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within a Youth Offending Service (YOS) based in North East London. This is a full time position with an initial 3 month contract and the pay rate for this role is 30-32 per hour (limited company worker).

Duties -
- Carrying out both mental and physical health assessments, interventions and related reports for young people known to YOS staff and CAMHS / CHS staff.
- Undertaking physical health screening of YOS young people, ensuring the use and completion of the ASSET tool where appropriate.
- Coordinating direct physical health interventions for YOS young people eg programmes of immunisation with colleagues within CHS.
- Offering direct mental health assessments / brief interventions to a specific caseload - in line with CAMHS Care Pathways (Conduct & Behaviour) and through negotiation with Psychological therapist and operational manager at YOS.
- Providing evidence based parenting programmes and supporting whilst advising to families and carers of young people known to YOS and CAMHS staff when necessary.
- Promoting mental and physical wellbeing of young people attending the YOS and referring them to relevant heath provisions as indicated by screening / assessment measures that have been undertaken.
- Working in partnership with Community Health Service colleagues and CAMHS colleagues to develop and deliver a rolling programme of consultation and training to YOS staff To build YOS staff capacity for managing appropriate levels of physical and mental health concerns as per national guidance (NICE).
- Producing reports evidencing capacity building / staff development.
- Developing and maintaining appropriate links with CHS, CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services as according to YOS young people's needs.
- Maintaining clinical records as required and attending regular training as necessary.

Requirements -
All applicants must be a first level registered RMN with a valid NMC Pin, as well as 2 years recent post qualifying experience working with Young Offenders.
