Racing Post is a growing multimedia business. The company publishes a daily national newspaper and a suite of digital products, including award-winning mobile and iPad apps as well as a website, racingpost.com, which includes an online subscription service. It also has an expanding syndication operation plus two weekly newspapers and a books division.

The business employs approximately 280 permanent staff, primarily in London, Newbury and Dublin, in addition to freelancers and contractors.

Job purpose

To sell advertising and initiate new commercial opportunities across all classified with a specific focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets. In addition they will be cover for the Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

- To meet and exceed business plan objectives.
- Sell across all classified products, including print, on-line and mobile
- Produce new sales initiatives, including features and supplements
- Account management and sourcing new clients
- Make follow up calls to all advertisers to assess response rates and up sell repeat booking
- Up sell to advertisers full suite of commercial products, including print, online and directory
- Develop Classified B2B and online advertising opportunities
- Compile commercial financial reports
- Cover Information and Classified Sales Manager when required
- Source potential new business via industry publications and websites
- Initiate and attend client meetings, including exhibitions
- Ad production, proof reading advertisements, obtain customer verification, shared management of page production and checking all advertisements appear as required
- Liaise directly with clients and agencies in regards to copy chasing
- Liaise with Finance Department on a regular basis to arrange appropriate credit terms for individual clients.
- Ensure ad bookings are accurately booked on to ABS
- Carry out weekly staff and 1-2-1 meetings when required
- Any other task as and when required to support the commercial sales team

- Excellent communication skills at all levels with internal and external clients
- Experience of managing and working to a budget.
- IT literate, including good operational knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Knowledge of horseracing industry
- Previous sales experience, preferably in a media or B2B environment.

- Knowledge of greyhound industry
- Digital sales
