SUMMARY:

- The successful candidate will perform a variety of routine chemical and physical tests for the Analytical Services and Materials Characterization group.
- Given assigned project and objectives, the incumbent is expected to operate under minimal daily direct supervision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Handling our sample submissions (using the LIMS), surface area and porosity by gas adsorption and Laser diffraction particle size analysis all following our ISO17025 certification.
- Responsibility for ensuring that assigned testing for the laboratory is completed and reported to customers.
- Assist in method development.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Sample prep in both XRF and XRD areas, XRF and XRD spectroscopic determinations and various gravimetric and titrimetric techniques may be expected. Most tests are performed using software controlled instrumentation.
- The position involves interaction with the group as well as being a contact person for internal customer questions and assistance.
- Maintain control charts for analytical instrumentation.

SKILLS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- BS degree in chemistry or closely related field. (No MS or PHD submitted)
- Related experience in analytical testing, software controlled instrumentation and computer skills a plus.
- Good written and oral skills a must as well as ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
