Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant - Lake County

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 1-3 Years
EDUCATION: High School/G.E.D.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Identify and address client/family needs and concerns who are dependent upon alcohol/drugs; provide assessment, crisis intervention and other services to assist client/family in the treatment process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Provide chemical dependency assessment and/or treatment for clients under supervision by licensed professional, within the range of program services.
- Act as an advocate for program participants with courts, schools, treatment centers, and other services as appropriate in order to make referrals and conduct follow-ups.
- Provide individual and family counseling; engage clients and families.
- Provide outreach and case management to primary clients. 
- Prepare written reports, timely and accurate client record documentation and summaries for consultation according to program standards and professional ethics.
- Participate in curriculum development and supervision of clients.
- Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Combination of experience and education normally represented by a High School Diploma with 1-2 years relevant work experience required. Have completed 40 hours of education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methods.
- Must have a CDCA certification.
- Must be Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish).
- Must have knowledge and experience working with alcohol/drug assessment and case management.
- Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
- Must be organized, detail oriented and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must possess group work skills.
- Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of computers with familiarity of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with a team of professional staff desirable.
