Ceramic Processing Technician Job

CERAMIC PROCESSING TECHNICIAN needed for a one year CONTRACT oopportunity with Yoh's client located in Schenectady, NY.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- As a ceramic processing technician, you will conduct ceramic Matrix composite processing experiments under guidance.
- You will be expected to meticulously follow protocol and take detailed notes.
- We will also expect you to characterize the processed material using typical microscopy techniques and/or mechanical testing.
- Lastly, we expect you to reduce date to useful forms and communicate the results to the research staff.
- Responsible for the processing and/or testing of ceramic Matrix composites on a daily basis.
- This includes running and maintaining specialized equipment.
- Work closely with research staff to plan and execute ceramic processing and characterization for a variety of project that may include monolithic ceramics, porous ceramics, environmental barrier coatings, and/or ceramic Matrix composites.
- Maintain equipment necessary to conduct experiments.
- Need to be able to operate a scanning electron microscopy or optical microscope for necessary characterization.
- With guidance, reduce data to useful form using appropriate mathematical techniques and software tools
- Maintain accurate records of the work performed and other records required by the projects.
- Perform all work in accordance with EHS guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Associates in an engineering, technology, or science discipline with at least one (1) year of industry experience
- Experience and/or education in one of the following areas: composite processing, mechanical testing, or general ceramic processing
- Ability to program controllers for testing equipment and furnaces.
- Ability to operate basic scanning electron or optical microscopy.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products like Excel and PowerPoint
