CATIA V5 Appliaction Engineer

We are currently looking to recruit a CATIA V5 Application Engineer (Vehicle Architecture) due to growth; the role will be based on client-site in the AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture) department.

The AVA department is part of the Tools and Technologies group that is responsible for delivering intuitive best-in-class tools and processes in CAD automation improving vehicle component compatibility.

The department is an exciting and growing part of the business that drives for "best-in-class" CAD methodologies. This role will appeal to those who want to be at the forefront of CAD technology and those who want to make the difference on a wide scale across client Product Development.

Key Responsibilities

- Build, deploy and support AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture) tools and processes across JLR
- Work within the JLR project management framework process to deliver new toolsets 
- Communicate and promote the use of published methodologies in functional areas
- Provide CAD at elbow support resolving day-to-day user problems
- Deliver mentorship based training to the CAD community
- Interface with a number of functional areas of the business (eg IT, CAE, Manufacturing, Engineering) and external partners (eg software vendors, off-shore resource)
- Support the iPLM delivery team on AVA related topics

Skills and Experience required

- The candidate must have experience using CATIA V5 in either engineering design or an application support environment.
- A broad understanding of the typical functional groups within an automotive business would be beneficial.
- Experience of managing small projects, training or coaching, computer literacy and familiarity with other CAD systems would be preferable.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

- Extensive use of workbenches in CATIA V5 such as GSD, and PartDesign
- Experience in a CAD/PDM/PLM environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to think out-of-the box on new solutions and have the personal drive to make the solutions a success
- A desire to deliver projects to the business that "make the difference"
- A good level of planning and project management skills
- Understanding of VB programming language would be advantageous but not essential.
