Category Manager (NHS) - EU Tenders

My client, a Public Sector organisation, based in South Yorkshire, is looking for a Category Manager with experience of managing EU tenders/medical consumables, for a 12 month assignment.

The right candidate will be tasked with taking responsibility for negotiating high-value tenders and contracts for goods and services, achieving the most economically advantageous outcomes for the organisation.

Your role in the department would be to provide procurement and supply chain services to a broad range of departments, and to deliver measurable savings from revenue expenditure to support the organisations' Cost Improvement Programme.

Excellent communication skills we be a standard pre-requisite as you will need to build relationships with the; Head of Supplies, Purchasing Managers, General Managers, Heads of Services, Executive Directors, Business Managers, Group Accountants, Senior Managers in IT. and
other agencies with which the organisation contracts or interacts for the provision of Supplies Services.

Extensive and Relevant experience in a buying role, and experience of working within the N.H.S. will be welcomed, and you must be prepared to become CIPS qualified.

Other main duties include; contributing to the development and implementation of a Supplies strategy, whilst supporting the organisation's business plan, whilst ensuring that Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders, EU Regulations and other statutory and regulatory requirements are followed, ex-plaining legal obligations to untrained staff in other departments is also part of your job role.

You will be required to research the marketplace, giving due consideration to financial status of suppliers; ability to supply and maintain continuity of supply - undertake product and equipment evalua-tions/trials and site visits as necessary - whilst conducting detailed evaluation of tender returns, using appropriate financial assessment and purchasing and supply criteria.
