My client a leading energy provider in the UK currently requires two Category Buyers. The successful candidate shall be responsible for working with key stakeholders and the Procurement Managers and will be responsible for awarding a portfolio of contracts such as goods and services etc.

- Work closely with the Business representatives to understand business strategy and objectives in order to source and secure compliant goods and services.
- Manage the end to end tendering process from market engagement and analysis, RFI, ITT and evaluation, award and contract management.
- To carry out vendor management to understand changes in markets and technologies, explore relationship opportunities, and realise strategic or commercial benefits from closer alliance.
- Engaging with all support functions including Legal, Health & Safety, Sustainability and other stakeholders, to ensure compliance with governance and overall business ambitions.
- To carry out market engagement, market analysis, and develop strategic solutions to meet business objectives.
- Carry out their role in an ethical manner, and in accordance with the business procurement policies and procedures.
- To generate and record savings for the company by effective procurement in accordance with annual targets set by Procurement Director.
- Ensuring that third party suppliers and contractors both understand and work in alignment with our health, safety, environment and quality practices and standards.
- Ensuring that our risks are understood and mitigated to an agreed level through effective contracts and development of appropriate professional relationships with our key suppliers and contractors.

Skills and experience required:

- Demonstrable experience of developing procurement strategies, based on market engagement, opportunity analysis, and full understanding of business strategy and objectives.
- Experience in managing the end to end tendering process up to award of contracts.
- Evidence of good negotiation skills, and past successes.
- A high degree of commercial acumen.
- Good understanding of contractual terms and conditions, and contract construction.
- Planning skills to support tenders.
- Understanding of stakeholder management skills with experience and ability in working with cross functional teams.
- Good practical knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio.
