Casting Engineering - Wind Turbines

*Main contact between internal design, quality and purchasing teams and supplier of castings.
*Primary responsibility for complete lifecycle (design development, prototyping at supplier and validation) of main castings for MW offshore wind turbines.
*Assessment of structural design, finite element models results, cast technology applied by the supplier, manufacturing processes of prototypes (casting, machining, coating) and design, machining and material deviations reports delivered by the supplier.
*Application of GL guidelines and DIN EN ISO standards.
*Support for the design and optimization of castings for manufacturability, transportation, installation and maintenance within turbine design limits.
*Definition of requirements and elaboration of castings specifications.

VORAUSSETZUNGEN:

*Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering or Castings
*7-years of solid experience in design of large hand mold ductile iron castings.
*Experience on NDT methods and other material test procedures.
*Solid understanding of design standards for mechanical structures: IEC, GL guidelines, EN standard, bolt calculation based on VDI, etc.
*Basics of FE tools: experience to evaluate finite element results and casting process simulation results.
*Hands-on/field operation experience with large castings and foundries.
*Solid knowledge of castings manufacturing process like patterns, molds, pouring, testing, etc.
*Knowledge of machining processes.
*Basics of the wind turbine type certification according to IEC standard and GL guidelines and manufacturing certification of casting components. Willing to work very closely to the team members (design, loads, etc.) and the rest of components specialists.
*Capacity for collaboration with suppliers and industry partners to meet the design to cost targets.
*Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment and to collaborate effectively.
*Strong communication and organizational skills.
*Good command of English (written and spoken). German and Spanish are welcome.
*Willingness for occasional traveling.
*Ability to produce thorough reports and documentation of the performed analysis and manufacturing acceptance of the castings at the suppliers.
