NOTE: You will be required to hold a minimum of DV security clearance. If you do not hold an active DV clearance please familiarise yourself with the vetting process before applying.
Main Duties:
You will be responsible for developing the transition strategy plan and the management of the implementation of the changeover including the migration of system data.
The successful candidate will be experienced in service and system transition preferably within a Defence and Security domain.
Responsibly includes liaising with all parties, managing all contract deliverables relating to data migration and service and system transition, managing cost and schedule and providing regular reports and briefings on progress.
Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate a proven ability of managing data migration, system and service upgrades in a complex multi-system engineering environment
This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding, with extensive communication and interfacing requirements with Industry stakeholders, demanding excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina.
The main tasks of the role are:
*Decomposition of the requirements that relate to system transition, support and service transition, data migration and ILS and training
*Preparing the system transition documentation;
*Develop and gain approval for the transition strategy and plan
*Plan and implement data migration strategies and plans for each system
Essential candidate requirements:
*Good experience of software and systems integration engineering principles
*Solid grounding in the systems engineering life cycle with experience on large complex secure systems
*Proven track record in managing the engineering on the development and integration of complex IT systems
*Engineering Management experience
*BSc in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
*Thorough knowledge and first-hand experience of managing within all areas of the systems engineering life cycle
*Knowledge and experience in planning, implementing and testing the transition of secure computer systems while maintaining system capability
*Knowledge and experience of designing and implementing data migration in an operational environment including the use of database migration tools and methods;
*Knowledge in secure systems support and maintenance in order that the system can be transitioned into live service smoothly;
*Experience of transformation, change management and transition to a managed services environment
*Knowledge of the integration of computer hardware including networking in a secure environment
*Disciplined and rigorous approach to transition engineering and ability to ask challenging questions about the requirements and implementation details
*Track record of delivering work packages to cost, schedule and quality
*Experience of using metrics to present project status
*Configuration management experience
*Problem analysis and resolution;
*PRINCE 2 practitioner;
*Ability to conduct and moderate requirements and design workshops with the customer;
*Proven experience in organising and leading major customer milestone reviews
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
*Willingness to work out of hours on occasion
*Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas.
