My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Whitley, West Midlands, is looking to recruit a CAE Analyst for their Powertrain Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position Description:
Powertrain CAE provide an analysis service to Powertrain development. This comprises Transmissions and driveline, intake and exhaust systems, fuel and cooling systems, gasoline and diesel engines. A vacancy exists for a Finite Element Durability Analyst.

Skills Required:
Carry out Durability analysis of a variety Powertrain systems using Finite Element methods. Construct Finite Element models from CAD geometry. Perform normal mode and forced response analysis. Perform fatigue assessments using stress or strain based techniques. Carry out design optimisation studies. Report results in an accurate and concise manner both verbally and in written form. Able to communicate effectively at all levels.

Skills Preferred:
Understanding of Powertrain systems.

Experience Required:
Proven track record in Durability analysis, preferably in Powertrain systems and engines in particular. Previous use of HYPERWORKS/ABAQUS CAE & VIEWEW/SIMLAB for pre and post processing, the ABAQUS solvers and Fatigue analyses.

Experience Preferred:
Experience of solid modelling using either Hypermesh or CATIA Experience of Simlab, Abaqus CAE/Viewer and FEMFAT Proven ability in Finite Element techniques. Previous experience of either NVH or Durability (Static/Dynamic & Thermal) attributes essential. Experience of Powertrain Development & PCS/GPDS. Be able to contribute as part of a team. Flexibility to work on many varied tasks.

Education Required:
BSc/MSc Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.

Education Preferred:
Candidates from other industries may be considered depending on knowledge and experience.
