CAD Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops detailed design drawings according to specifications for mechanical equipment, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Lays out and draws schematic to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems and machines.
- Coordinates and consults with supervisor to design, lay out or detail components and systems to resolve design or other problems.
- Checks dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materials.
- Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Positions instructions and comments onto drawings.
- Creates solid models and detailed drawings of new and revised parts and assemblies.
- Reviews engineering drawings, analyzes designs and researches information necessary to complete drawings, layouts and designs.
- Processes and prepares engineering change requests and notices.
- Coordinates production releases from purchase order receipt to manufacturing floor.
- Prepares engineering prints as required.

SKILLS

Two-year Associate or Technical College degree in drafting with a minimum of three years' experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and technical training. Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Solid Works a plus. Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Lotus Notes a plus. Experience in fabricated steel parts. Dynamic self-starter and team player with good attitude and willing to work hard. Detailed oriented. Must be able to quickly adjust work priorities to meet a dynamic and evolving work environment. Must be able to work from sketches and follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to climb ladders and crawl into small spaces as needed.
