CAD Engineer (27615)

My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a CAD Engineer to join their Power train division on a long term contract basis.

Role: CAD Engineer

Description:
The role is to be a key system/component CAD based mechanical design engineer within the base engine department with advanced technical expertise in at least one area of base engine engineering.

Skills Required:
Advanced skills required in the design and delivery of engineering systems on high performance diesel and/or petrol engines, ideally combined with engine architecture concept design and vehicle installation design experience. Working knowledge of quality design methods, CAE methods and problem solving. Knowledge of prototype engine build methods, prototype and high volume manufacturing methods and design for service requirements. Knowledge of analytical test methods and interpretation of CAE studies. Experience in the design of major aluminium cast components and the machining thereof, plastic injection mouldings or manufacturing processes for engine components is desirable. Creation/approval of detailed drawings including GD&T, interpretation and application of engineering standards, compilation of detailed dimensional tolerance stackups and checking for approval of such. Able to work efficiently within a team and to communicate efficiently with external teams including component suppliers and external consultancies.

Skills Preferred:
Experienced users of Catia V5 (a proficiency test assessment will be performed) and UGS Teamcentre knowledge is ideal but not essential. Candidates with the right level of engine design experience but with CAD skills in a CAD tool other than Catia will be considered.

Experience Required:
Candidates must have gained experience working within an automotive OEM/supplier and have worked on base engine system design for a prolonged period.

Education Required:
Mechanical Engineering degree.

Education Preferred:
Catia V5/Tce training certificate

Additional Information:
Candidates must be flexible and capable of supporting business activities at other sites, although the role will be Gaydon based.
