CAD Engineer

My clients a leader in its field are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to work in Bendigo on a 6 month contract.

THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

- Actively participate in design planning meetings, design reviews and other project meetings.
- Design parts, special tooling and assemblies using CAD to produce 2-D and 3-D models, drawings and associated documents to meet safety and project requirements suitable to enable manufacture.
- Ensure appropriate filing of electronic masters of drawings.
- Participate in risk assessments.
- Provide technical support to production, including problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Undertake independent design investigations.
- Keep informed of new technical developments in design and CAD drafting.
- Assist with estimates
- Perform straightforward design calculations as required.
- Assist in the provision of on the job training when required.
- In conjunction with the design project manager provide guidance and oversee detailers to ensure reliable documentation is produce
- Work in accordance with drafting standards and procedures.
- Assist with product prototyping.
- Undertake tolerance analysis.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:

- Engineering, trade or technical background with suitable experience in a drafting or design office using CAD systems, preferably with experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Qualifications In accordance with the ADI Award for classification Level 3. In related field ie. Mechanical, Electrical, Structural Architect, etc preferred
- 1 to 3 years experience in a relevant design environment.
- Understands the basic principles of configuration management.
- Ability to interpret and analyse drawings and technical documents.
- Understanding of the relevant manufacturing processes, capabilities and systems including quality,planning and scheduling within the facility.
- Ability to produce drawings in accordance with AS1100 or Def (Aust) 5085B using current CAD systems.
- An understanding of OH&S issues
- Ability to conduct independent design investigations.
- Ability to undertake mechanical design tasks.
- Ability to create effective 2-d and 3-D CAD models and designs
- The ability to undertake straightforward design calculations
- Knowledge of material properties.
- Ability to write technical reports with precision
- Sound, communication and interpersonal skills
