CAD Design Engineer

CAD DESIGN ENGINEER/CAD TECHNICIAN- MICROSTATION 2D/V8I/3D

JOB OVERVIEW

This Job will entail working with Internal and External customers directly with a view to producing a design solution. Utilising MicroStation Cad V8i.

This work will be predominately office based but there will be a requirement to visit different form of transportation and construction sites.

Surveying experience is a requirement for this role and customer liaising is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Liaise directly with client to ensure a full understanding of project requirements and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Experienced in space proofing and equipment layout using MicroStation.
- To produce full working drawings for Installation of companies equipment - Including the Equipment Layout, Containment Layout and Schematics Diagrams.
- Review and comment on project documentation, queries and request for information.
- Produce detailed survey reports using word and photographic annotation
- Produce equipment loading calculations as required by the project engineer
- The company will provide training for proving and structure testing to meet the requirement of the Installation Project Engineers and client.
- Master As Built drawings to be produced within a set programmed deadline or milestone.
- Tasks will be monitored against P6 - Planning tool.
- Assisting the Installation department in all CAD Design matters
- Representing the department at Internal and External meetings.
- Attending site at any time during a project cycle to assist and overcome design issues.
- Working time can be during Engineering hours (Night Time) or Traffic Hour (Day Time) depending on the task.
- Site visits that require high quality and comprehensive survey detail to be captured from the work site.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

- Five years' experience using 2D MicroStation - V8i
- Building Service background with formal training. (ONC/HNC)

DESIRABLE:

- 3D MicroStation V8i
- Projectwise
- Autocad

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL:

- Microsoft Experience - Excel, Word
- A background of working in a civil, mechanical and electrical engineering environment
- Experience of working within rail infrastructure
- Good communication skills

DESIRABLE:

- Degree - in one of the Key Building services Trades, (Electrical, Mechanical, Comms, Civils etc.)
