For our client, global investment bank, we are looking for experienced C++ WINDOWS DEVELOPER for 6 MONTH INITIAL CONTRACT in LONDON.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

DVS (Distributed Valuation System) is the Front Office credit derivatives risk generation system. It is a distributed computation platform written in C++ and Python and built on Windows and DataSynapse platforms.

The successful candidate will join a team of 5 people and will focus on improving system performance through optimisation of the architecture.

The role will involve profiling the system in various different usage scenarios to confirm hotspots, reviewing the application to understand the nature of the bottlenecks, and then identifying solutions to address the underlying cause.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- system optimization 40%
- reviewing code and developing in C++ on Windows, analysis/design 30%
- performance testing, performance analysis/engineering and resolving bottlenecks 20%
- documentation/specification 20%
- knowledge sharing 10%

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

- proven track record as a C++ Developer
- strong skills in: C++, Windows API, Visual Studio 2005-2012, Python, DataSynapse, SQL
- proven 'hands on' IT experience, preferably on a distributed platform (ideally Data Synapse)
- code optimisation experience, understanding of compiler optimization techniques and x86 extension instructions
- background in performance analysis/engineering and resolving bottlenecks
- familiarity with the following applications
- Intel VTune (preferred or a similarly capable code profiling application)
- Rational Purify
- GlowCode
- AMD CodeAnalyst
- Visual Studio Profiler
- profiling/instrumentation experience
- ability to identify root cause issues and propose solutions within confines of system
- investment banking background would be an asset
