C & I Engineer - GloucesterRegion. The work offers diverse challenges in areas such as control and protection system design and operational support. There will also be a significant involvement in the major investment programme to maintain and improve control and protection system performance and equipment reliability. You should have an awareness of engineering design principles and an ability to apply a systematic approach to problem solving. You should have knowledge in the areas of control and protection system technology and architecture, an awareness of the relevant modern standards and high integrity software design and development. Experience in one or more of the areas below would be an advantage: * a knowledge and understanding of relevant industry standards for systems important to safety and have a proven record in their use to justify such systems in a highly regulated environment * a sound knowledge of principles and concepts which drive good C&I design * a track record of achievement driven through personal motivation, and an inquisitive mind * the ability to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work to achieve results * the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to diverse stakeholders including internal and external regulators, academic institutions and equipment manufacturers will be an advantage * an extensive knowledge and experience in the specification, design, justification, testing and maintenance of safety or process critical C&I Systems. Examples of suitable experience would be experience in the specification and design of plant protection systems, process control systems or SCADA systems. * Competence in the use of high level programming languages, configuration tools and formal methods * Knowledge of current or emerging technologies together with knowledge of legacy systems. Applicants will have a relevant degree in electronic / electrical engineering, computer science / software engineering, mathematics or applied science and those with Chartered status or relevant experience leading to Chartered status will have an advantage.
