BUYER - E-COMMERCE/RETAIL/PRODUCT SELECTION - WORK FROM HOME!

Buyer is required by very high profile and prestigious organisation that is embarking on a new E-commerce venture!

The retail buyer is responsible for planning and selecting a range of products to sell on this new platform.

The buyer must consider the following factors when making purchasing decisions:

- customer demand, including price, quality and availability
- market trends
- customer fit
- financial budgets
- Supplier capability including integration, product data, paperwork and dropship capability

The buyer must source new merchandise and review existing items to ensure products remain competitive. By fully understanding customer needs, they are able to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices. Keeping up to date with market trends and reacting to changes in demand are key elements of the role as well as helping to deliver against the planned marketing calendar.

It is important to remember the buyer must be able to negotiate with both stock holding and dropship suppliers.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Typical work activities can vary according to the season. This is particularly true for fashion. For example, Dependent on the season, the majority of time will be spent in the workplace (in the office and at suppliers sites), whereas, other times will require attendance to trade fairs and exhibitions.

Throughout the year, tasks typically involve:

- analysing consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends
- regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels
- managing plans for stock levels
- sourcing new suppliers
- commercial agreements on stocked lines to cover consignment stock, returns etc.
- reacting to changes in demand and logistics
- meeting suppliers and negotiating terms of contract
- maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products
- liaising with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completed
- attending trade fairs, in the UK and overseas, to select and assemble a new collection of products
- participating in promotional activities
- writing reports and forecasting sales levels
- presenting new ranges to senior retail managers
- liaising with team to ensure supply meets demand
- getting feedback from customers
- getting feedback from marketing teams

In this role you will need excellent communication skills in order to build relationships with colleagues as well as business stakeholders alike.

You will have experience of structured sourcing processes from requirements definition to final award as well as of managing concurrent sourcing projects. You will also have experience of leading structured negotiations of business terms and conditions as well as experience of product analysis, evaluation and selection. You will have a real operational focus.

You will be able to manage relationships with third parties as well as propose offers and special promotions relating to a range of products.

Buyer, £200-260 per day, 6 month rolling, work from home!
