Responsibilities/Duties:
- The buyer is responsible for maintaining existing supplier relationships, and developing new relationships when warranted.
- The buyer may negotiate long-term or just-in-time buying agreements for goods and services, with overall approval being provided by senior management
- The buyer will resolve any matter regarding material found not to be in conformance with customer print or Purchase Order specification for their assigned commodity groups.
- The buyer will plan, schedule, and coordinate the purchase of parts to meet production or shipping dates.
- The buyer is responsible for expediting the delivery of product when necessary.
- The buyer is responsible for inventory management of their assigned commodity group.
- The buyer is responsible for continually exploring opportunities for cost savings with the goal of achieving savings twice their wages.
- The buyer is responsible for monitoring supplier quality, delivery, and purchase price variance performance.
- This position may require some travel for supplier visitation.
- All buyers are to display a high standard of ethics in all transactions, keeping the interest of the company foremost at all times.
- Buyers will perform other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
- Have proven supplier management skills
- Possess knowledge of PC applications
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Computer (HFA/CMS screens and their function/use)
