Our client, a world leading Technology, Manufacturing and Service Facilities company, is currently recruiting for a Buyer on a 7 month contract, with a high possibility for extension, based in Derby.

Key deliverables:

The role of the buyer is to manage the transactional business demand required by the stakeholder area. As a buyer, you will work with the stakeholders to ensure compliance to process and be proactive in identifying priorities in their tasks and operational improvements. You will also act as a key interface between suppliers and the rest of the Purchasing team and ensure all Service Levels are met.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Customer Service - Building strong relationships with customer areas by being responsive and proactive in the management of customer requirements.
- Takes full accountability for meeting customer Service Level Agreements.
- Influences and engages others (in different roles or business areas) to ensure that the customer requirements are met.
- Supports and adopts a service-driven approach.
- Provides visibility to the customer of progress against plan, owns the resolution of queries and manages issues through to completion.
- Work in partnership with the customer to create a complete pack of data to enable the requirement to be met.
- Understand the product or service required to enable analysis of the options available to meet the requirement.
- Use judgement to make a decision and act. Ensure that supplier selection and sourcing recommendation is in accordance with agreed commodity strategy and commercial framework.
- Negotiate the best value. Ensure Service Level Agreement targets are met.
- Planning and prioritising work - Prioritise and plan tasks and time around greatest business importance. Manage, monitor and report the progression of all items on the work queue through to completion.
- Use the most appropriate method of communication to drive a fast and effective outcome. Support the team and colleagues to ensure that overall business objectives are achieved.
- Processes and Procedures - Understands key purchasing processes and procedures relating to the role. Responsible for operating and complying with all Purchase Operations Centre systems, principles, procedures and processes. In particular, you will understand and meet all regulatory requirements, eg US government compliance and export control.
- Process Improvement - Responsible for identifying and recommending process improvements related to the operation of their task and those task that are interrelated.
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement of efficiency, effectiveness and customer service. Shares best practice across the team.
- Code of Ethics - Responsible for ensuring their own compliance to the company's code of ethics.

Essential Criteria:

- Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
- Has a proven track record in delivering results and achieving objectives
- Understands manufacturing or service processes and the cost drivers
- Understands the Total Cost of Acquisition impact
- Understands and operates Supplier Relationship Management
- Strong Customer Service skills
- Experience of working in a purchasing or supply chain function
- Good influencing skills and persuading without authority
- Experience and competence in ERP and SAP systems
