PROJECT OVERVIEW

* Position: Buyer
* Location: Warrington or Workington
* Length: 7-9 months
* Hours: 39 per week
* Rate: £18 per hour

OBJECTIVE
The Buyer will lead procurement activities against a range of goods and services contributing to the overall objectives of our client by adding value and enhancing customer service.

DELIVERABLES (FOR CONTRACT)
* Assist and support the development and implementation of the Procurement Strategy
* To identify and deliver value adding opportunities from the supply chain
* Lead negotiations/tender exercises for a range of goods and services which conform with European Procurement regulations where appropriate
* Place contracts/purchase orders whilst adopting appropriate contract management techniques
* Provide assistance and support to the Procurement Managers within as and when required
* Provide guidance to the broader community on procurement issues
* Support the management of high value contracts and framework agreements
* Support the category strategies for predetermined supply groups
* Promote through early involvement the potential for procurement to add value and improve customer service
* Act as procurement interface on identified contracts and framework agreements including collaborative procurements, ensuring supplier relationship management
* Deliver against a series of discrete supply chain, system and process initiatives aimed at developing the procurement function
* Competent Agresso user
* Work with Business Directorates to ensure bids with sub-contract requirements are understood and underpinned as appropriate
* Ensure customer requirements are fully understood in the highly specialised industry and work closely with Lead Engineers as required
* Support improvements in transactional procurement processes

ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE SKILLS
* Prefessional Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or working towards Professional membership
* Minimum of 2 years experience in a procurement environment
