Buyer

DUTIES
1. Obtaining and summarizing bid documents received from Engineers
2. Checks with company's Category Leads to confirm the bidders list is acceptable and makes changes as required
3. Sets up a spreadsheet for bidders to submit their bids in a format company requires
4. Sets up the bid event in Ariba Sourcing
5. Sends out the bid documents in Ariba Sourcing to three or more bidders
6. Answers questions from the bidders; and enters the questions into Ariba Sourcing for all bidders to see along with answers provided
7. Summarizes the results from the bidders when the bid is closed
8. Sends bid summary to the Engineer and category lead outlining the results and the proper course of action
9. Sends out monthly metrics
10. Inputs cost avoidance data
11. Files Contracts and Bid waivers in Emptoris

SKILLS:

SKILL SET
1. Procurement background required in non-commodities
2. Bachelors Degree required
3. Organized/Ability to handle concurrent projects
4. Efficient/Ability to turn around bids in a timely manner
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
6. Strong communication skills - Written and Verbal
7. Ability to learn new systems (Ariba Sourcing), and suggest streamlining options
8. High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. (Excel pivot tables, data analysis and reports)
9. Ability to work within a team setting/strong interpersonal skills. Will need to interact with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
10. Strong analytical skills
