Buyer

Takes personal and specific responsibility for purchasing and expediting activities. Guided by a senior person. May mentor more junior Buyers. Typically a graduate with at least 2 years experience and membership of professional institute. Commercial evaluation of potential suppliers, low impact negotiation and identification of suppliers and alternative sources. May undertake specific projects. May report to Procurement Manager.

The role is within Procurement team based at Samlesbury.
The role requires someone with experience in the procurement of Construction & Facilities and/or Plant & Equipment projects. This would typically include:

Manufacturing plant: multi axis machines, presses, autoclaves, cranes etc.

Construction of new buildings

Refurbishment of existing site facility's

The role requires the following:

Working closely with customers to ensure procurement solutions meet business needs.

Development and agreement of a procurement strategy for individual investment proposals.

Management of workload, ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with Company processes and procedures

Good contracting skills, able to personally develop contracting models and solutions.

Good market knowledge, able to bring their own ideas to the table and add value to the sourcing process.

Self-motivated and able to work without on-going supervision. Quick to learn.

Identifying opportunities to deliver savings to the business through challenging and innovative behaviour.
Undertaking cost audits of selected individual projects.

Skills and experience

Ideally a person with a minimum of 5 years in a procurement environment
Experience of capital equipment in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial
Qualified to HNC/HND or degree level
CIPS qualified preferred
