Business Technical Analyst - Oracle

This position will be responsible for the development of solutions that support the training, learning and development needs of our locations and corporate departments. This individual will develop an in-depth understanding of business drivers/needs, create solutions to meet those needs, and work closely with the team to implement those solutions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience researching and designing technical solutions, administration and implementation of off-the-shelf software, developing integration solutions in a multi-application environment, analysing and evaluating possible solutions to meet defined requirements, and testing both off-the-shelf and custom developed software solutions.

This person must be a highly organized, self starter who thrives in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment and have proven measurable experience with all aspects of the SDLC. Additionally, thought leadership will be a critical success factor for this position. Creativity, and the ability to research options for solutions, leveraging industry trends and best practices, will be required.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

- The majority of work will consist of datamodeling, process mapping, and workflow analysis.
- Will be fixing, optimizing, and possibly re-writing data feeds if they aren't working.
- Bridge the gap between the business customer and the technology solution providers (ie, vendors, infrastructure team, development team, etc.) by translating business needs to technical solutions throughout the life cycle of the product.
- Coordinate and/or execute plans to ensure that technical solutions meet the needs of the business.
- ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead the development to interface an off-the-shelf learning product with current systems using Oracle based solutions. Code, test, troubleshoot and document programs according to systems standards.
- Assist project leadership in setting technical direction, project planning, delivery estimation, technical design documents, and project management documentation
- Serve as technical liaison with internal departments and external vendors
- Provide level 4 support for the integration solutions
- This is an internal client facing role

SKILLS:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Requires 3-5 years working with customers to develop and define total life cycle.
- 7+ years as a senior business technical analyst/business technical analyst in an environment where large scale solutions are developed and deployed
- 2+ years of leading software life cycle development
- 5+ years of technology experience
- Bachelors degree - Business or IT
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills (including writing scripts) and experience working with Oracle; database administration experience is a plus
- Experience with hosted software solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a client-facing role with the ability to build strong relationships
- Experience creating test strategy and test plan documents as well as executing tests
- Data modelling, process mapping, workflow analysis and design tools experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to focus on details as well as the big picture
- Experience identifying project tasks and providing estimates for those tasks
- Basic project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to adhere and promote standard business analyst tools, procedures and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and Visio

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Intermediate level Unix Korn Shell Scripting skills, Crontab, etc would be a huge plus
- Experience with web application development and support, and an understanding of related architecture and security concerns (ie: SSO)
- Experience with mobile applications and delivery
- Experience in a software/application support environment
- Experience with Crystal Reports
- Prior technical/software development experience
- Experience working with and managing external vendors
- Experience implementing off-the-shelf solutions
- Experience with Saba or other Learning Management Systems
