Business System Analyst

Type of Assignment: Contract, full time
Length of Assignment: 6 months to start with a possibility of extension for another 8 months
Description of Project or Company/Organization:

Job Description:
- Interface with the business unit staff to define project scope, establish work plan and other documentation as required.
- Research, gather, capture and analyze business unit requirements in support of the project;
- Document business workflow, procedures, roles and responsibilities, and other requirements that can be used for system implementation.
- Identify opportunities and tools to improve internal operational efficiency and effectiveness, executive information management and reporting, planning and decision making processes in the context of the pilot project.
- Provide business and technical consulting skills to meet project objectives including business process reviews and modelling.
- Analyze and quantify business impacts of the project.
- Communicate, collaborate and co-ordinate with management, business groups and the project team to support the implementation of new improved business and system processes for Permit Parking.
- Solicit input and requirements from stakeholders through a series of structured workshops
and meetings. - Perform other duties as required.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- University degree in computer science or related discipline, and 5+ years of 'progressively more responsible' experience working on large-scale information technology projects or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience to lead the business requirements definition process, analyze and document proposals and requirements relative to the design and development of business systems.
- 5+ years; working experience and ability to perform requirements gathering, impact analysis, interview subject matter experts, facilitate joint-application-design sessions, and mapping of business processes;
- 5+ years' working experience and ability to evaluate and document business workflow, procedures, roles & responsibilities and integration
- Excellent problem solving, leadership, facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and work collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in a government/public sector setting with business system projects.
- Experience with documenting business frameworks, as well as business process/workflow modelling.
Technical Capabilities:
- 5+ years of system/business analysis experience in all stages of large scale development projects and application support;
- Demonstrated ability to prepare project documents such as, but not limited to, business cases, proposals, functional and non-functional requirements, training manuals, business/technical architecture specifications, feasibility studies and evaluations;
- 5+ years of proven ability to document requirements in similar or larger initiatives that were used by technical integration teams for implementation tasks;
- 2+ years experience in the implementation of integrated business systems.
