Business Risk & Value Manager

OUR RAIL CLIENT URGENTLY REQUIRE A BUSINESS RISK AND VALUE MANAGER WITH STRONG EXPERIENCE MANAGING BUSINESS RISK TO JOIN THEIR TEAM IN MANCHESTER ON A CONTRACT BASIS.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

Using your expertise you will monitor projects so that they comply with the risk and value management procedures and provide advice to project manager and sponsors by carrying out business risk assessments.

Your role will be heavy involved in providing guidance at all stages of the project life cycle, and to support fellow Risk and Value management facilitators.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Guiding project teams in concepts of risk management (including the running of quantitative cost and schedule risk assessments), value management and lessons learnt, maintaining their application to all stages of the project life cycle.
- Monitoring assigned projects so that they comply with the risk and value management procedures.
- Facilitating risk, value management and lessons learned workshops as required.
- Quality assuring the output of others who undertake such workshops to monitor competence, consistency and compliance with company procedures.
- The ownership and management of a high-level risk register (cost and schedule) for the Asset investment portfolio and promoting the joint evaluation of risks with contractors to establish a basis for risk sharing and incentives.
- Updating the risk register to make sure the risks are up to date and that appropriate risk treatment is in place and is acted upon. Providing regular reports to project and risk and value managers will also ensure that the risk statuses of the projects are monitored efficiently.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Expertise in all aspects of project and business risk management facilitation
- Ability to build complicated cost, schedule and business risk models in a number of applications, including Pertmaster
- Knowledge of project management and project control processes
- Knowledge of risk management techniques

DESIRABLE

- Membership of the Institute of Risk Management or Association for Project Management Risk Practitioner
- Membership of the Institute of Value Management

The role may require travel in the Central Region where necessary.
