Business Engineering Consultant Job

BUSINESS ENGINEERING CONSULTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in RICHMOND, VA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- BS in Fire Safety, Fire Science, Fire Protection, Engineering or other SHE oriented discipline, or equivalent experience or equivalent external work of eight (8) years in a fire protection and life safety field.
- Sound technical and regulatory based fire safety knowledge, including knowledge of regulations, laws, and standards.
- Knowledge of highly hazardous chemicals and processes.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Work under the guidance/supervision of Site Fire Safety Team Leader and Site SHE Mgr; Evaluate applicable building and fire codes for industrial applications, guide and follow the design and build of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, lead functionality testing of complete fire protection initiatives and support the building permit process with the local building inspector office and Fire Marshall from design submittal, permit application, functionality validation, as-built submittal and building permit closure.
- Provide FP leadership/guidance to ensure compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal Safety related engineering design of site fire protection systems.
- Provide cost-effective fire protection engineering solutions
- Lead project related Fire Safety Reviews
- Implement and lead improvements and modifications in processes relating to Fire Safety, Fire Protection and Fire Prevention.
- Interact with regulatory agencies while building and maintaining positive relationship with local fire officials.
- Interface with all unit operations, site SHE functions, leadership and the line organization in order to administer programs and procedures and ensure compliance.
- Evaluate hazards against available fire protection systems and minimum protection requirements, detecting and recommending corrective action in regard to any vulnerability.
- Coordinate design of fire protection, detection, suppression, and mitigation systems on site.
- Serve as contact for Site Life Safety questions.
- Maintain required fire protection documentation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Understanding of passive and active fire systems (including hydraulicsGood computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- The candidate needs to be thoroughly familiar with applicable state and local building, fire and emergency response codes.
