Business Engagement Manager

The Business Engagement Manager (BEM) is assigned per business area to be the direct link between the Programme team, the Business area and Business Champions and Technology Office. Their role is to manage the user relationship from engagement up to deployment; to capture user demand; analyse it; challenge and shape the demand to fit the desktop model and make the users available for scheduling.

The Person

Ideally you will come from a project management background and be able to work at ground level to ensure the success of the project. You will have considerable experience of Windows 7 Deployment, preferably within a financial industry.

Your strengths will lye in communication, organisation and co ordination of a range of tasks within the Deployment of this technology or similar. You will also be happy working in a fast paced and pressurised environment and have the  ability to manage your time and resources effectively in order to meet deadlines and cost restrictions. A close relationship with all of your stakeholders is vital in this role.

The BEM is responsible for three levels of functioning: 

- The effective running of the team in terms of pastoral and procedural running and the day-to-day maintenance of the overall business relationship.
- The effective stakeholder management of senior Business and Technology Office representatives ensuring the interests of all stakeholders are brought into alignment;
- Identification and management of Business Pipeline of activities entering the programme so that accurate calls on programme demand and resource management, risk, etc can be planned as far in advance as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ownership of the BEM life cycle in terms of people, process, requirements for tooling, quality;
- Pastoral care of the BEM team including direction, quality and delivery; personal effectiveness and HR-related issues;
- Allocation of BEMs to business units and maintenance of workload balance across BEMs;
- Monitoring of progress and reporting per business unit;
- Hosting a monthly Desktop Forum across all business units to ensure key user feedback is communicated (two-way);
- Hosting a weekly BEM meeting internal to the team to discuss programme and team-related issues;
- Hold 1-2-1 sessions with senior BEMs to give direction and take feedback;
- Attendance at weekly Core Leadership, Pipeline and Milestone meetings;
- Creation of Monthly Senior User Council packs for every region/business area and hosting of these sessions;
- Management of the programme pipeline of work (work coming into programme, but not yet in life cycle );
- Initial mobilisation of Pipeline projects for programme ensuring issues of scope, technology, risk, resourcing are pre-empted and planned in advance of Lifecycle commencing.
