BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER: MEDICINAL PLANT NAMES SERVICES

FULL TIME- 36 HOURS PER WEEK

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Kew) is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew's mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life.

Medicinal Plant Names Services (MPNS) is an innovative project seeking to employ Kew's rich digital resources to support the relevant regulatory authorities and professionals working in health and research and facilitating their provision of safer and more effective healthcare. MPNS will for the first time establish a unified, global and definitive guide to the many names of medicinal plants as they are used throughout the world. This authoritative online resource will underpin a suite of information services tailored to meet the needs of specific segments of our client and stakeholder community.

The Business Development Officer will develop and document a clear definition of the information needs (re medicinal plant names) of potential clients through market research (online and by other means). They will support the project in developing a sustainability plan and life cycle management for a suite of information products and services involving plant names and will facilitate the establishment and management of an external User Group for Medicinal Plant Name Services, negotiating with and where possible influencing diverse stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

You will have a degree in Information science, in a scientific discipline or equivalent or relevant experience. You will have significant experience of modelling business processes including the precise definition and documentation of information requirements and workflows. You will be able to evidence having built networks of people and organisations with a clear purpose, structure and effective communication.

Salary is from c£30,000 per annum and benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a choice of pensions, a flexible benefits scheme as well as a great working environment.
