Public Sector/Local Authority Business Development Manager
Candidates must have relevant local authority experience.

Our client, a local government organisation, has commenced a transformation programme to address a forecast major funding shortfall and is looking for an Interim Business Development Manager who will be central to generating new income streams.
With a track record of driving business success and swiftly generating income in local government, you will also have an understanding and capability of working in business development in the public and private sector, with a focus on municipal enterprise. You will require an entrepreneurial approach in order to seek and see business opportunities, and then successfully deliver a substantial increase in income.

You will be responsible for:
Delivering an increase in income generation of several million pounds for a local government employer, through current or future commercial activities such as:
Development of commercial waste;
Increasing the use of advertising space at a wide variety of locations and situations;
Increasing the commercial capability of crematoria and cemeteries;
Driving increased revenue from existing customers;
Developing new products/concepts

You will have the following attributes and experience:
A track-record of creative and entrepreneurial revenue generation within a complex organisation.
With your excellent communication skills, you will work with key partners - such as consultants, the private sector and the education sector - to quickly grow the income base of the council, and sustain that growth.
You will be able to demonstrate that you are not sidetracked, and can demonstrate tenacity and resourcefulness to see the job through. You will have excellent influencing skills, being able to operate at board level in order to change behaviour.
You will have the ability to lead on the creation and realisation of new initiatives which swiftly generate additional income.
You will have the ability to work in collaboration with diverse and senior stakeholders.
