Business Development Manager - Cards/Payments - 12 months - London

My client is looking for a Business Development Manager who will support my clients objective by signing key UK banks as suppliers to the proposition being developed. The BDM will be responsible for building effective business relationships in order to enable Heads of Terms to be agreed and then full contract signature.

This is a complex sale, which will involve building relationships with many different stakeholders within the banks and managing to completion. Knowledge of retail banking, card payments, alternative payments and mobile propositions is a must.

Skills & Experience Required:

Track record:
- Detailed knowledge of retail banking, card payments, alternative payments and mobile propositions is a must.
- Must have a track record of successful achievement of targets in a commercial environment
- Good knowledge of the payments/cards industry and financial services, including key components and roles within the value chain.
- Keeps up to date through reading of newsletters, financial news sites and blogs.

Communication:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in order to actively influence buying decisions
- Exceptional active listening skills - demonstrates that is actively listening to others requirements, issues etc
- Exceptional at presenting in both formal and informal situations
- Ability to lead a white-boarding discussion to understand a client's issues and map these to capabilities, using market, client, solution and commercial understanding

Teamwork:
- With an emerging proposition the ability to mobilise and lead the entire team behind the solution is essential and requires a high level of internal stakeholder management
- To both work as part of a team and to be able to engage and motivate others to contribute to the team (eg where a large bid team is required)
- Facilitation - able to facilitate Sales & Account team and customer teams to reach a solution/way forward
