Currently seeking a security cleared Business Development Architect, to be based on site in Hampshire, for a contract duration of 7 months to be confrimed by the client.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ROLE AND THE TIME SCALE AND REQUIREMENTS ISSUED BY THE CLIENT, CANDIDATES HAVE BEEN ASKED TO HOLD CURRENT SC LEVEL SECURITY CLEARANCE FOR THIS ROLE.

ROLE OVERVIEW

DII(F) provides the capability to exchange and share electronic information across Defence. The scope of DII embraces all fixed sites within the UK and abroad, Maritime Platforms and Deployed HQs. It includes Local Area Networks (LAN), Servers, Workstations, Printers and associated software as well as messaging and core IS tool-sets. The scope does not embrace Wide Area Network services or Business Applications but DII will be responsible for deploying these.
The HP-led ATLAS consortium (which includes Fujitsu, Cassidian, LogicaCMG as well as IBM) will develop, deploy, and maintain the DII Services for Fixed (Office), Maritime and Deployed configurations, and will deliver these Services to the MoD over the 10 years life of the contract.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is for an Architect, reporting to the Business Development team lead in CTO Service Design. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical expertise to support the Request for Change (RFC) and Business Development processes by designing effective and efficient solutions, with the aim of gaining significant new contract business, increasing the success rate and reducing RFC response times.

ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE, AMONGST OTHER REQUIREMENTS THAT OCCUR FROM TIME-TO-TIME:

- Translate customer objectives and critical success factors into cost-effective IT solutions that meet business needs, down-selecting the solution option that best satisfies the requirements and gaining customer agreement to it.
- Proactively determine and document business requirements.
- Participate in bid proposals and lead in the definition of solution design and scope, supporting the impacting process by ensuring the solution is understood in sufficient detail by affected parts of the Account and then critically examining the resulting impacts received.
- Assess, document and mitigate risks to both client's and the Account business.
- Produce Solution Overview designs, and other documentation as required.
- Initiate required design/change reviews and present the solutions in order to obtain governance authorisation to proceed
- Work in collaboration with client's project sponsor/staff, Account specialists (eg project managers, technology leads, enterprise architects), and Govt partner suppliers to ensure consensus on the developed technical and service solution and that proposals are complete, affordable and deliverable by the Account organisation.
- Enhance the standard offerings by providing feedback on the suitability of the Account IT Service Catalogue to meeting the changing needs of the client.

AS PART OF THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TEAM THEY WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING ROLE:

- Be an active member of the technical governance boards (Technical Solution Review and Architecture Review Board)
- Undertake ad hoc requests
- Process Improvement
- Contributing to the CTO Service Design organization

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

- Good client-facing skills at senior level, with the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts to senior executives
- Self motivating, objective setting, and good leadership skills
- Experience of enterprise architecture frameworks - TOGAF/MODAF, or the leveraged company's architectural framework of choice.
- A good knowledge of IT Service Delivery (ITIL version 3)
- Negotiating, bringing consensus, with previous experience of running workshops
- Team development and motivational skills
- Strong verbal and written communications abilities.
- Understanding of Account technologies.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

- TOGAF 9 Certified
- ITIL v3 Foundation Certified
- Degree level or equivalent
- CEng/CITP or MBCS
- Understanding of DII contract.
- ITAC level 2 certification

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

- Good team player, able to work to meet timelines
