Business Decision Support Accountant

15 month contract£45,000 or up to £275 per day Our client is a leading financial services company based in Edinburgh. They are currently looking for a Business Decision Support Accountant to join the team. They will face-off against specific Business areas and work closely with the Business Directors. They will provide business support and financial consultancy to drive business performance and contribute to the delivery of key financial targets. Key Responsibilities:*Developing a full and complete understanding of the business area (functions, processes, internal & external cost drivers, cost behaviour)*Providing appropriate engagement, challenge & support to the business area *Ensuring detailed action plans exist to deliver financial targets*Maintaining awareness of evolving business issues and their impact upon full year forecasts/future run-rates maintenance & development of required data sets*Working with the Reporting & Controls team to specify the requirements for appropriate financial reports for business areas *Ensuring the financial numbers reported are complete & accurate & the messages conveyed accurately reflect a true & fair view of the performance of the business area*Ensuring appropriate expense narrative and additional appropriate use of business MI/drivers analysis within reports*Ensuring appropriate input to Business cases including benefits estimating & benefits trackingAbout you:*Qualified Accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)*Previous experience a decision support or business partnering role is required*Strong communication, planning & organisation skills with the ability to build relationships & influence at Senior management level*Highly analytical, capable of synthesising large amounts of data into key messages and actions*Ability to interpret complicated operational issues & cost drivers into pragmatic messages on cost performance*Understanding of the nature of costs across the business, their relationships with cost drivers and products*High level of competence in financial systems, financial modelling and reporting (particularly Excel)
