BUSINESS CONFIGURATION PROJECT MANAGER

DURATION:  5-month contract

LOCATION:  Burbank (91504), Rancho Cucamonga (91730), Pleasanton (94588), or Walnut Creek (94598) CA

CLIENT:  One of the country's largest health care and health plan providers

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

- Manage Benefits Configuration in Health Plan Systems Configuration department
- Manage implementation activities for the EPIC Tapestry AP system
- Oversee group of analysts (8-10 people), scope, configuration, cost for the project.  This is a non-IT position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Develops and manages project plans, including defining deliverables, key milestones, critical path
- Facilitates planning with business configuration stakeholders
- Develops project outcome success measures
- Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns project roles
- Identifies and works to mitigate project issues, dependencies, constraints, risks
- Balances project schedules, scope and budget - renegotiates with program and stakeholders as necessary
- Formulates project methodologies and communication plans
- Facilitates improvement efforts and develops implementation recommendations
- Develops models to project impact of projects on resources
- Facilitates collaboration with diverse groups and individuals to influence strategic planning and execution
- Develops, maintains, effectively manages client relationships at all levels across the organization
- Communicates and presents project status to a variety of audiences
- Acts as primary project contact for operational managers
- Acts as primary contact for stakeholders, partners and customers regarding project estimating, delivery, user acceptance testing and release management/planning
- Influences and makes recommendations to senior management regarding complex projects
- Understands and applies knowledge of change management process on projects

REQUIREMENTS:

- BS/BA required
- PMP preferred, but not required
- Minimum 5 years Project Management experience running large projects across multiple geographical areas
- Health care background preferred, but not required
- Understand all project life cycle phases and apply knowledge in the delivery of at least one phase of the project delivery life cycle
- Advanced Microsoft Project and project scheduling methods
- Strong and effective communication skills with stakeholders
- Estimating and reporting
- Assertiveness, confidence

- 20% travel required
