Business Architect - Target Operating Model/Risk KPI/Operations/Strategy

ABOUT THE ROLE:

My tier 1 investment banking client is looking to design the future risk architecture for their organisation globally. This is a critical hire as this person will lead the team as it grows (likely to be formed of Business Analysts, Project Managers and PMO members).

This hire will likely be a Director level candidate, who would class themselves first and foremost as a Business Architect. You will lead, coordinate and design this new operating model for the bank. In doing so you will consider process management, Infrastructure, data, technology, people etc. Please note, the key word here is business DESIGN - it is a genuine strategic approach. You will need to have led a business design team previously and have worked on a project/programme which has been truly end-to-end. Please note, this is NOT re-engineering like may of these roles often are.

It is essential that you have;

- Financial Services Experience
- Familiar with Risk, have knowledge of its terms etc. Even if you don't know how risk is calculated at the detail level of trading
- Business Design experience - Structure of how management should operate including reporting lines and spans of control
- Define Risk KPI's consistent to strategies and group wide performance targets
- Definition of skills, training, incentives and behaviors that staff require in order for them to perform their roles effectively

You will be charged with building a design authority for the Risk organisation and the overall management of this design team. Although this is obviously a very senior role, because in the early stages the team will be small, it will require you to roll your sleeves up and carry out more Analyst duties as required, until you build your team around you. This is 100% a programme in it's infancy, no design has currently been agreed and therefore it should be seen as extremely exciting for the right level candidate. On that subject, this role requires a candidate at the right level - not someone looking to make the next step up' in their career. This role might suit a current or ex-strategy consultant.

Whilst the Investment Banking world is undergoing some major regulator pushed initiatives, including some in Risk, this programme and its justification, has nothing to with being regulator driven. This is board driven business strategy, that will run in parallel with regulator requirements.
