Business Analyst - Wireless Strategy

Contract Term
This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Oct 22th, 2013.
This is an initial 6 month contract opportunity part time, approx. 10-15 hours a week. Work Independently - flexible schedule.Overview
This project will develop a strategy to exploit the wireless component of the Fibre Cable Duct and Wireless (FCDW) business model. Fibre optic cable is not practical or affordable for many locations. Wireless data technology has tremendous potential to extend the reach of CCN. There are numerous wireless broadband technologies and standards (eg WiFi, WiMax, LTE, microwave, mesh) and investigation is required in order to determine which of these technologies can best meet the needs of Business Units. Role and Responsibilities
- Identify fixed wireless data requirements for a variety of business units.
- Identify sites that may benefit from the use of wireless data
- Deliver a technology review and assessment with recommendations for wireless technology to address CoC fixed wireless requirements, taking into consideration: data security, reliability, bandwidth, performance requirements, and scalability.
- Identify support requirements and provide recommendations for support of wireless technology.
- Review wireless technology that CoC Business Units are currently using relation to corporate technology requirements.
- Provide guidance for a pilot project to evaluate candidate wireless technology.
- Provide a budgetary estimate for the implementation of fixed wireless infrastructure. Deliverables:
- Deliver a Wireless Strategy document that includes: requirements, sites, technology assessment, and budget and implementation plan.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Proven experience with IP data network design. (10 years)
- Proven experience with a variety of wireless network technologies.(5 years)
- Proven experience working with client, end-users in order to understand application requirements and design networks to meet these requirements. (5 years)
- Experience with wireless path analysis calculations and software tools.(3 years)
- Network implementation cost estimates and budgets. (5 years)
- Experience developing and implementing technology maintenance and support plans. (3 years)
- Previous work experience with Municipal, other Government Organizations or equivalent endeavours.
- Previous experience with Carrier Class Network (CCN) and/or Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology.
