Business Analyst/Process Analyst

MY CLIENT, IN THE TELECOMS INDUSTRY, IS LOOKING FOR A BUSINESS ANALYST/PROCESS ANALYST FOR A CONTRACT ROLE.

Reporting to the IT Director/CIO, the aim of this role is to implement exceptional IT/Technology solutions which address the needs of the Business.

You will do this by employing your skills

- at Business Analysis to understand the true need or opportunity,
- at Process Analysis to creatively look at how the need can be addressed efficiently and
- at Solution Design to come up with strong guidance as to a likely IT/technology solution.

You will not be reactive, waiting for the Business to log a requirement - you will actively seek out opportunities for simplification, automation or elimination of activities which drive the business forward and/or improve our services.

Possessing a naturally curious mind, you will be keen to leverage new technologies and solutions to improve how the business operates. You will also have sufficient grasp of the IT architecture of a telecoms company such that all development is aligned to an efficient and lean architecture.

Comfortable working with external suppliers, you will be confident enough to direct them to deliver as required yet open enough to listen to alternative ideas/approaches they might offer.

ESSENCE OF ROLE - KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

BUSINESS ANALYSIS/SOLUTION DESIGN

- Lead the assessment of new business requirements and/or opportunities with a view to delivering an appropriate IT or Technology solution
- Own the Requirements Register for tracking all requirements logged with IT Tracking
- Engage with and explain to external vendors the business needs and solutions concepts so that they can deliver appropriate solutions
- Track delivery of Business Requirements in scheduled Releases
- Impact Assessment of all changes in eth context of eth IT Architecture and work practices using eth IT solutions
- Review and where necessary, challenge the architecture of solutions being proposed by vendors in the context of the overall IT architecture for the company
- Ensure appropriate monitoring is included in all solutions.
- Management and documentation of Business Requirement Definitions, Solutions Assessments Process Assessments
- Co-ordination with Test Management to ensure appropriate testing of the delivered solutions

PROCESS ANALYSIS

- Implement a project governance structure for eth company which includes reporting, tracking and control processes in accordance with company standard processes
- To take ownership and responsibility for compliance with process controls and their improvements and the production and maintenance of all relevant compliance evidence
- Ensure compliance with stated operational/maintenance processes

FINANCE

- Develop and agree estimation models for new IT requirements
- Assess proposal cost estimates for input to business cases
- Assess vendor cost estimates for value and cost effectiveness

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience working as a Business or Process Analyst in or to the fixed line telecoms industry is mandatory
- Comfortable validating technical designs for infrastructure projects
- Strong telecoms IT architecture understanding and experience
- Commercially focused with a keen eye to where technology can drive business value
- Proven innovative delivery
- Some experience with network management systems an advantage
- ITIL experience highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Proven ability to tackle complex problems and find creative solutions
- Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail and good documentation skills
- Proven ability to successfully communicate with and manage external partners/vendors
- Proven ability to respond well to change and maintain flexibility while keeping focus on objectives
