Business Analyst - PnL Attribution

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We have an outstanding contract opportunity for a Business Analyst to make their mark with one of the world's largest international banking and financial services companies. In the role of Business Analyst, you will play an integral role in helping our client deliver market leading services that set it apart from its competitors.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:

M and IB Finance is undertaking a complex global and multi year Change programme including implementation of a new architecture, integration with the Group Finance Transformation Programme, and meeting all the current and emerging regulatory requirements. This organisational change requires the management of large complex projects covering all aspects of change including infrastructure implementation, process re-engineering and operating model changes. Budget for this programme is significant and there are circa 350 FTEs working on the programme globally across 23 different sub-programme streams. The Finance Change function is responsible for leading and delivering this change. This function consists of finance change experts including programme and project managers, business analyst, and subject matter experts. The function works collaboratively with all areas including Finance, Technology, Operations, Risk, Treasury, Front Office and Group.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This specific role is a Business Analyst role in the MCRP P&L and Volcker Programme Within this context, the Business Analyst's key responsibilities are business requirements gathering, project implementation, business case analysis, support and involvement in SIT.

The MCRP P&L and Volcker Programme has the objective of providing the tools and processes to BUC to effectively support and challenge the business whilst meeting RBS regulatory obligations for P&L. The MCRP P&L and Volcker Programme is a multi-year global programme of work covering Strategic P&L Attribution, Globally consistent P&L reporting and commentary, definition of the Strategic Operating Model and Toolset for P&L trending, improvements in the T0 Flash operating model and the provision of the global Volcker Finance Metrics.

COMPETENCIES

The successful candidate will ideally come from an IT (ideally PM/Testing) background and will also have strong P&L and P&L Attribution (Explain) experience.

Key skills should include:

- Understanding of key drivers of Profit and Loss for products in a specific area in accordance with industry norms (pricing, P&L decomposition, impact of risk vs. market movement, funding, reserving, independent price verification etc) as well as accounting treatment for each key component
- Front Office and Product Control experience
- Business Analysis - Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements, writing up project artefacts with the use of good written English.
- Must be assertive and analytical. This is a fast paced environment.
